If you need urgent medical assistance with acute, life threatening illness or with injury, then call 112. You can call 112 24 hours a day.

Calls to 112 goes to the emergency call centre​​​

Always call 112 when there is an urgent need for assistance with an acute injury or illness.

Your call is forwarded to the regional emergency operations centre where you can speak to a healthcare professional such as a nurse or a paramedic.

A healthcare​​ professional decides what service you require​

During the call, the nurse or paramedic will ask you what kind of assistance you need. Based on your description of the situation, they will assess your requirement and, if necessary, send out an ambulance or an emergency doctor.

If the emergency operations centre conclude that it is not necessary to send out an ambulance or emergency doctor, you will be referred to another treatment service in the Region.

Do not call 112 in the following situations

Do not call 112, if your call concerns:

  • Sprains, strains or other minor sport injuries
  • Minor bruises and cuts
  • Minor burns
  • Common nosebleed

Do you need the police? 

If you need to reach the police to report a crime or something that does not require immediate emergency response, call 114, which will direct your call to the nearest police station.
